“I can’t even begin to express the dignity the Verma Foundation has provided me! I am beyond grateful to be able to just throw on a cap wig and go out on a boat, soccer practice/games, or even just to walk to my mailbox. In December, I applied to the foundation to receive this cap. I had to write a letter along with my oncologist having to write a letter on my behalf. To my surprise, I woke up to an email the day after Christmas informing me that I was chosen to receive this amazing gift! Sometimes losing your hair almost feels worse than the actual cancer dx. Receiving this gift is one of the best things ever! I was able to choose everything about it…the color of the cap and hair, and the length. Yes, real hair attached to a baseball cap with the most amazing silk lining. Once I received it, about a month later, my sweet friend Michelle Blastic, was able to color it to almost match my old hair color and also cut it to my last hairstyle. Such a blessing!! This cap would’ve cost me well over $300. I can’t even begin to thank all of the people (and professional athletes – Patriots and Bruins!) that support and fund this foundation! It doesn’t feel right to be on the receiving end of this but I sure am thankful I am! So next time you’re looking to support a charity or foundation please, please, please consider them! I couldn’t have done it on my own.”
